I will be attending Mountain Lakes High School in New Jersey on November 9th to give a presentation to thier art classes about my work and being an artist.
My newest design The Bone Anchor is now available in my Etsy shop.
I made up this Legend to tell the story of it's existence.
Legend of the Bone Anchor:
It is widely believed that the Bone Anchor originated in the Caribbean, during the “Golden Age of Piracy” around the late 17th and early 18th century.
Legend states that the Bone Anchor was a trademark of sorts for the ruthless Captain Howell Roberts. He was known to have beautiful anchors made from the bones of his prisoners and enemies, which he strung all around the sides of his ships.
At the height of his career, he had as many as 1600 anchors on his main vessel.
Roberts met his end at the hands of the Royal Navy whose fleet was much too large for his few ships to overtake. He was hanged, his crew was captured and no one knew what became of the thousands of Bone Anchors, until the fall of 1989.
Shortly after hurricane Hugo passed, my sister was walking the beaches of South Georgia, and stumbled upon what she thought was just driftwood or part of a turtle shell. Upon excavation, she was stunned to see that her “treasure” was in fact old weathered human bones in the form of an anchor. The anchor was taken to the local island historian and anthropologist who was astonished at the sight and immediately burst into the tales of Captain Roberts.
He sent the bones to Atlanta to be carbon dated, and after 3 long years, it was confirmed that the bones did indeed belong to the early 18th century.
My bone anchor pendant is a replica of my sister’s most fantastically historic treasure.
It is made out of solid bronze and hangs from a gold rope chain wtih a lobster clasp and a signature tag.
I am very proud to announce the launch of my new line of jewelry!
I started painting jewelry out of curiosity whether or not I could even paint that small! I was so excited with the result, and having so much fun with the challenges that it provided, that I became quickly obsessed. Now I look at every tiny surface and think, “I wonder if I could paint on that?”
Most of my work is one of a kind, painstakingly hand painted by me, and other designs, such as the Seahorsicorn, are based on themes and ideas taken from my illustration and fine art. I create each piece as a labor of love in my Brooklyn, New York studio and it is my hope that my jewelry will be collected and appreciated through families and enthusiasts for generations.
I designed the show poster for my friend, and Razor and Tie recording artist Nicole Atkins. A limited edition run was printed, and I believe you can only buy them at the merch table at her shows.
Nicole's new album Mondo Amore was released in February and she is currently touring it. check here for dates and album information.

"allan nederpelt is pleased to announce the opening of TEAM WORK—a group show that includes seventy-seven artists who work collectively to assist a major figure in the art world.
The exhibition functions as a social-artistic experiment to explore the similarities and differences in the work of this large group of individuals who spend the greater part of their day together. We may also think of it as a search for a common thread that could exist in the work through unified ideologies, aesthetics or artistic philosophies.
By gathering these emerging artists in a group show for the first time, TEAM WORK further explores the collective unconscious, celebrates diversity in a new context and opens up a dialogue for extraordinary conversation. This is a platform for the sharing of ideas and creative investigations.
TEAM WORK illuminates the necessity to create and reminds us of what power there is in participation and community—each voice, insight and expression of the individual is a contribution.
